Experience
When I first started out on my career path I wanted to be a secretary working in finance. The idea at the time was attractive but after a few years I realised that industry wasn’t for me. Its just not my bag baby.
In my late 20’s I landed a social media job in Sydney with a cool team of talented fun people. Looking back I think that is when my world changed. Being included in the marketing and social media industry was exciting. Now 5 years later, I work for a global advertising firm in London – however, I am aware that I am lacking the right type of education for the future career I want to have.
Education
I decided to take up an English literature course in 2014 to get my brain back into learning mode. In 2015 I then chose to study through Open Universities Australia as it gave me the flexibility to travel around the world, I knew at the time I wouldn’t be staying in Australia.
Bachelor of Business with a double major in Contemporary Marketing and Business Management. It’s a mouthful but I feel proud every time I say it – especially now that I am almost finished!
Passion
I’ve always been a creative person. As a kid I loved art, fashion and baking, then as I grew into my teens I become really interested in designing outfits, sewing clothes, and cosmetics. I will never forget when I was 15 and my best friend put black eye liner on me (thank you Laura). A whole new world opened up in my eyes.
Combining makeup looks with fashion looks was then and still is, my favourite thing to do. I take inspiration from all sources. Furniture. Architecture. People on the street. History. You name it. I have an eye for aesthetics.
Connecting The Dots
So how do these three parts of my life connect?
I am ready to take my career to the next level. I want to work in digital marketing for a beauty, fashion, travel, food or lifestyle brand.
I currently have the passion and education, but I am missing some experience. So I have taken the initiative to start a blog to test and showcase my creative talents – writing, photography, editing, styling, product reviews and experiences.
This is where I am at right now in my life, I hope you’ll join me along the journey to achieving my goals.
